Young Carers Film Launched

I have completed a short informative film about the lives of young carers living in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area, for the Princess Royal Trust for Carers (www.carers.org/local/south-west/bristol)

I worked with young carers using participatory video techniques, training them in basic multimedia and interviewing skills. Some young carers took cameras home with them, and filmed themselves and those they care for around the home.

I also worked with a great editor, Melvyn, to create a very special film, that the young carers and the Princess Royal Trust are very pleased with.

The film was launched at a conference on parental mental health and children's wellbeing, Breaking Down Barriers, on the 13th September in Bristol.

The film will be used by the Princess Royal Trust to raise awareness of the issues facing young carers and their families, in schools and among professionals.

It was a great project.

You will be able to see clips from the film on my website in the new Films section, www.vanishingrites.com

Chittagong Hill Tracts Exhibition Online

Vanishing Rites-Life and Death in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, was a multimedia exhibition, held at the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum, from January to July in 2004 (www.empiremuseum.co.uk)

If you missed the exhibition, then this is a chance to have a look at some of the panels, that give an introduction to the Chittagong Hill Tracts online.

To see some of these exhibition panels, please go to the Gallery section of my website, and click on Vanishing Rites Exhibition.

You will also be able to see some clips from the four films I made for the exhibition, showing some of the ceremonies and celebrations of the indigenous people. Check out the new Films section of the website.
